It ended when Asa tore out the page showing the sign for "Baby". As sign that he has moved into Toddlerhood? Or that he'd prefer to remain an only child? Only Asa knows.
I like that, James... there's a lovely old story, think it might be an O. Henry, about an orphan at Christmas in the orphanage, who snuck into the main hall, and seemingly "tore down" the painting of the Crist child... and as it later came out, he just thought the baby looked warm and cuddly, and he was lonely and wanted to hug with someone. But I don't want to sound like a Granna who is lobbying for more... so let's get the boy a few more dolls and cuddletoys!
Or maybe that he wants a baby to play with!
