Otherwise known as teething on food. There are two kinds: more for teeth than belly:

Cow-Boy
No, not "Cowboy", "Cow-Boy".
As in, "Asa, don't eat grass. It will make you sick."
"No, really, Asa. You can pull it up in handfuls, that's fine, you can play with it all you like, but please just don't eat the grass. Asa: no. Don't eat grass."
"Dagnabbit."

Hazy Hot and Humid... Ugh.
What do you do when it's 97° and humid, and you have a little one? Slather him in sunblock and put a kiddie pool in the shade.
Then blow bubbles. Soap bubbles stick to wet skin, and can be manipulated, even without much glycerin.
Add bath toys, and it's pure, unadulterated happiness.
Outtakes:
(of course I put my own feet in there!)
The deleted scene from Finding Nemo - Marlin didn't just battle sharks and jellyfish, but he had a nasty run-in with bubbles, too. It was too scary to make the final cut of the movie, I heard.
On that note, I'm getting away from this hot computer and going to sit on the porch, in the hopes of scaring up a breeze.

Good Times
Yes, just barely one week after learning to CRAWL (as opposed to learning to crawl - that half-hearted vague movement in which he indulged for several weeks), he has a new trick. Of course.
This is also how Mommy found him in his crib this morning. Smiling at her above the crib rail.
Ah, but what is it that brought him to this position - that was so interesting that he just had to get a closer look?
Jesus.
Specifically, the stuffed Jesus doll that was a graduation gift from Paul and Becke.
So one could conceivably say that Asa found Jesus and it brought him to his knees.
Or not.

Godmothers
We're all back in the same state!! YAY!!!
We went to check out Auntie Jen's new digs on Sunday - so close to the water! So NOT in North Carolina! How fabulous!
We took a walk around, checking out the more touristy sites and just catching up with each other...
Bonding with her godson...
Then back to Auntie Jen's, where Asa had two aunties to love him up, and two new cats to terrorize. Sorry, Pilgrim; sorry, Oakley.
What do you do when your baby is teething and you don't have any cold teethers on hand?
Duh. (Definitely my kid, and Aunt Jessica's nephew.)
We had to leave earlier than we would have liked, given the tired and teething baby... gathering up all of the detritus of babyhood, I went looking for his sandals.
Anyone seen Asa's sandals?
Right. Thanks, Auntie Jen.
But seriously, an awesome day that needs to happen again soon!
Swimming!
Asa and I have been taking swim classes at the local Y. The class is for kids ages 6 months to 3 years, so there is a wide range of abilities, but it's so much fun! Asa especially loves being in the water, and doesn't mind getting splashed by the older kids. He's really good at kicking, and pretty good at paddling, too, when he thinks of it. We sing and splash and blow bubbles - what a lovely way to spend a morning.
Here we are with two of our buddies and their moms - Asa and the girls.
yep, he's grabbing for the top of K.'s bathing suit... sigh.

Boston with Friends
It was such a pleasure to have Diane back for a few days this month! We spent an evening with dear friends, celebrating Diane's presence and Rob's graduation (!)... although I don't have pics of that one. Maybe someone who was there that evening will send me some? Please?
But then Asa and I went up to Boston the following day with Diane, Rob, and Jess. Lunch on the Common was followed by a ride on the swan boat... and I'm really not sure how, because I was sure I aimed the camera at him more than once, but Rob managed to avoid being photographed, at least by me. Dude, I thought I was good at that! I'm impressed.
