The Ugly:
Getting ready to head out to see friends in western MA yesterday, Asa pitched the biggest fit we'd ever witnessed. To use the word "screaming" doesn't quite do it justice. We had just buckled him into his carseat, so we undid the straps and picked him up and cuddled him, and he subsided to a whimper. So we set him back in the seat... and he turned awful shades of red and purple as he screeched. Comparing notes as best we could in the deafening noise, we realized that he hadn't pooped in two days. Hrm. Problem solved with a quick check of the "don't panic, parents" book and the deft use of a thermometer. No photos, of course - the results were probably best termed "explosive" - but a happier baby. First scary parent-moment vanquished! (At least, that's how it felt at the time.)
The Bad:
See above. You don't go through something like that without having a sore belly and bum for the rest of the day. So the "bad" was a crabbier baby than usual all day. Fortunately, there was...
The Good!
Friends who are also parents, who get the "crabby baby" and know how to soothe, and who fell in love with our little guy at first glance. Can you blame them?
Their beautiful daughter is M's god-daughter, so it was extra-nice for the two of them to have time together:
And for the kids to get a chance to meet: god-brother and -sister.
Makes you just melt, doesn't it?
Oh, melt, melt! that last photo made me cry! Both those beautiful god-siblings look so happy and content, cuddling each other.
