Who on Earth is That?

Look, Mummy, a baby!  Did you know there was a baby here when you set me down to play?

Like being in Venice...

Only not.  For one thing, Providence doesn't flood on a daily basis.  For another, it was only 20 minutes from home.  Other than that, however...

We got  there a little early, and our gondolier let us sit in the boat while he did some final prep... like getting us cheese and crackers, and opening the tiny bottle of wine we'd brought.

It was also Asa's debut in his Baby Björn... I think he liked it, since he slept for the whole ride.

We paddled down the Providence River almost to the head of Narragansett Bay, just as the sun was setting...

...and then back up the river to Waterfire Place.

The gondolier slowed us down under a couple of the bridges, to sing to us in Italian.  Fabulous voice, fabulous acoustics.  Such a neat experience.

So... who wants to come visit?

Flying Baby!

Fart-propelled flying, that is.  Sometimes tummy time is just the thing, even in midair.

We just wanted to wish all the best to Diane on her big move.  It was nice to get to spend a little time with you before you left!

We love you and we'll miss you, but we're so happy for you to be doing something you've wanted to do for so long.  Good luck!!

This was the dry run of putting on the christening gown.  We were trying to match the picture of great-great-grandfather Raymond Holley... but he was several months old by the time he was christened, and had a little more head control.  Ah, well.

Baptism

Just a couple of preliminary photos from Pap Pap's camera, since Mummy was a little busy to be taking pictures...

He's wearing his great-great grandfather's christening gown (also worn by his great-grandfather and his first cousin), and wore Mommy's christening cap, although it didn't stay on his head long enough to have his picture taken.  Asa was so good throughout the service - barely a peep through church, the outpouring of love afterwards, and even through lunch.

It was such a great time, with so many loving people around.  We feel so lucky.
