Sunset of a Sweet Smile

Just yesterday, at the DMV, I took advantage of the wait to get a few snapshots of Elias. Who knew I'd be making such a transition?

This morning, he cut his first tooth.  It's barely visible, so his smile hasn't really changed yet, but the clock has started.  And that little baby smile will soon be gone.

There are very few things that so obviously change a baby into a child, as it were.  Crawling and walking and talking; those are the most acknowledged.  But I will miss the gummy smile, the open-mouthed giggles, the quintessential baby-ness of my little boy.

But fortunately, not so close that we let him close to a hot stove.  Not yet.

Family of Four

There are days when reality shifts.  It's not just the birth of a child that changes a family dynamic; but all the little developmental stages.  Mobility, language, individuation, certainly; but in our family, this latest stage might be just as earth-shattering.

On the other hand, it only makes sense that a member of our family should prefer to be at the table with us.  Food, conversation, family, community... Who'd want to be left out?

Dragons according to Asa

When you don't know what dragons "should" do, like breathe fire, then they can do and be anything.

Besides, who are we to say dragons don't spray water?
